CALIFORNIA PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST (PFT)
5th, 7th, & 9th Grades
The California Physical Fitness Test (PFT) is a requirement for all 5th, 7th, and 9th grade students. The test involves 6 quick strength and flexibility activities, including a timed one-mile walk/run. Contact your CT to get a form or to ask any questions you might have about completing the PFT. Forms, along with links to instructional videos, are also available on the Alder Grove website. These forms will be due NO LATER than the cut-off date.

Your CT will have a copy of the PE testing form or you may download the form off the Alder Grove website. If your student participates in the Eureka High one-mile walk/run, please make sure they are wearing loose clothing that enables them to move.

Smarter Balanced: California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)
3rd-8th & 11th/12th Grades
April 23-April 27: CAASPP (Smarter Balanced) testing will take place from April 23-April 27. Students in 3rd through 8th grades, along with 11th graders, will be tested in Mathematics and Language Arts. Your CT will let you know when you can sign up for morning and/or afternoon testing slots during that week. Your CT can discuss with you the length of time necessary for each student to complete all sections of the test. There will be NO ON-CAMPUS CLASSES during this testing week.
April 30 and May 2: In addition, the California Science Test (CAST) field testing will take place April 30 and May 2. All students in 5th, 8th, and 12th grades should schedule a morning or afternoon time slot on one of these days. Selected 11th graders will also be asked to take the CAST. This is a computer-based assessment, and should take approximately 1-2 hours. On-campus classes will resume this week.

Students usually take the SAT the spring of their junior year and often repeat taking the test the fall of their senior year. The SAT website mentioned above offers a full-length FREE practice test for students. In addition, fee waivers are available for qualifying students. For more information, call 1-888-SAT-HELP.
